Euan is a multi-disciplined and versatile musician whose work ranges from classical composition and performance to music production. He has over 10 years of experience as a producer, having written for film, games and TV, and is now focussed on commission based piano music. In addition to teaching, his work currently explores the ways the piano can be manipulated using modern production techniques; marrying his interest in more traditional musical forms with cutting edge computer based work. Euan is a holistically trained musician having gained a 1st class honours degree on the University of Huddersfield’s industry-leading music technology course.
One of his key strengths is his ability to share and explain more complicated musical ideas in an accessible and practical way. His easy-going approach means that even the harder aspects of music production with him are enjoyable.
Getting started in computer music can seem daunting at first, and with so much misinformation and conflicting opinions online, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. With his wealth of experience, Euan can get you started with an efficient learning path tailored towards bringing out your artistic voice, and helping you navigate this misinformation. Having worked extensively in Logic Pro, Cubase and Ableton, he will take into account your own aims whilst guiding you in the direction of a workflow that best manifests your ideas. Euan’s main ethos is one of authentic expression as he believes every individual has a unique voice which is waiting to be tapped in to. His flexible curriculum will quickly take you towards a point where you’re able to express yourself creatively and confidently whilst simultaneously building your fluency behind the piano.
Often in production and composition work less is more and Euan will take a considered approach in deciding what areas are best for you to get to an expressive musical standard. He believes many modern pedagogical techniques are not tailored toward the individual and aims to change this in his approach to teaching.
