Tom is a great teacher who is very knowledgeable, patient and accomodating. I started lessons from him as a relative beginner and after nearly 6 months I feel my knowledge and abilities have rapidly improved. I look forward to continuing to get better under his tuition. Tom has made my relearning of the piano after 30 years an absolute delight. He immediately put me at ease and made my first lesson interesting, informative and fun. As a consequence I have booked him weekly and am enjoying the challenge of playing the piano with relish. Tom is an excellent teacher, asking challenging questions yet knowing how far to push me. If you want to learn the piano then Tom is your tutor. Not only is he a talented pianist he is a really supportive tutor.

I can highly recommend Tom Hawkins. I was a complete novice - one of those people who had always wanted to learn to play the piano but never did. I eventually made a start after receiving a gift voucher for a few trial lessons. That was two and a half years ago! Tom is an excellent teacher. I couldn't read music and hadn’t played an instrument before. It was quite daunting. But Tom is always encouraging and patiently guides me onwards each lesson and onto the next steps. If I feel I’ve fallen back in any way he helps me revise what I think I’ve forgotten. Learning piano is one of the best things I've ever done. Thanks Tom!

As a mature student I needed assistance in learning the piano as well as in reading music. Tom took my aims seriously and is being extremely patient with both my learning and with my questions. I am impressed by how Tom customises his teaching to fit my needs as I am elderly and diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He is a very empathetic encouraging teacher without lowering expectations or standards and this teaching style has helped me to develop confidence in my growing musical ability. Tom is an intelligent, sensitive teacher who has an ability to pitch his teaching style accurately to where a pupil is and then to challenge growing skill towards further achievement. I have had lessons with Tom for a while now. I have found him to be patient and understanding of my frustrations when I forget things or when they don't go to plan. Seriously though Tom's a top lad and I would recommend him to anyone from beginner to accomplished player I'm always at ease and the lessons are great and I'm learning much more than just playing the piano. Sometimes you know when you're onto a good thing and Tom is definitely a good thing
